Albert has so far participated in 9 solo exhibitions, and over 50 group exhibitions. He works across drawing, painting, photography and installation to explore components of race and difference. The combination of text alongside other mediums, is a major part of Albert’s work. Tony Albert was a founding member of the “proppaNOW” a Queensland Indigenous artist group.

Albert participated in the ‘10th Havana Biennial’, Cuba in 2009, and the ‘Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art’ in 2014. Also in 2014, Albert was awarded the ‘Basil Sellers Art Prize’ and the ‘Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award’. He was also the recipient of a residency at the ‘International Studio & Curatorial Program’ in New York. In 2015, he was commissioned an artwork for the ‘Hyde Park War Memorial’ in Sydney, in remembrance of Indigenous soldiers.

Tony Albert has exhibited in various locations around the world including at the ‘Musée d’Aquitaine’ in Bordeaux, ‘National Museum of China’ in Beijing, ‘Singapore Art Museum’, and ‘Tel Aviv Museum of Art’, Israel. Albert’s work is displayed in private and public collections including the ‘Art Gallery of New South Wales’, Sydney, ‘Australian War Memorial’, Canberra, ‘Art Gallery of Western Australia’, Perth, ‘Caloundra Regional Art Gallery’, Queensland and ‘Griffith University’, Brisbane.
